To be fair, Budget USA customer service did credit me $50 as compensation and as a result I will rent from Budget USA in the future. In other words, YOU will have lost Budget a long time valued customer with 30 years of rental history. Budget corporate customer service has been notified that I will never rent from Budget again unless this is rectified. This is not acceptable and I have opened a case with Budget corporate for a refund of my $51.70. Top that off with the aggravation caused by your refusing to credit me. ![]() You wasted my valuable vacation time - driving to return the car, 45 minutes at Budget, then another 45 minutes at Hertz and then driving back to the hotel. This was the worst car I have ever rented. I have been renting for over 30 years and am a Budget corporate business member. With the manager I was told the manager is unavailable and on vacation for a few weeks and that the manager said that since we drove the car the she would not credit me. There was no manager on duty to credit the $51.70, The Hertz rental was $330 but in addition you charged me for 1ĭay rental ($51.70). Your office arranged a rental with Hertz for me (since you claimed to have absolutely no cars of any type available) and I was assured that there would be no increase to the total rental fee of ~ $330 for the 7ĭays. We drove the car to our hotel (ports of call), to diner and then back to Budget the next morning - that's all. Every single warning light was illuminated on dash-check engine light, ABS, airbag, headlight, you name it. I'm generally not picky about the rental cars I drive on Provo but this one needed some TLC. Wow! Really?īesides my issues with Sandra, the vehicle I was given was in poor condition. When I returned to see Sandra yesterday, she feigned any knowledge of what I was talking about and went as far as to deny that when I initially arrived on the island they had no vehicles available. About one hour after arriving at the Budget office, I was handed the keys to my car. I didn't want to hold up the other customers in line any longer, so I agreed. ![]() She said we could talk about it when I returned the car the following Saturday. She never apologized for the inconvenience of me having to return to the office, the wait while I was there nor did she offer to provide me with a discount on the rental, so I brought it up with her. I was the second person in line and the manager, Sandra, was the only person at the desk and completed the paperwork at a snail's pace stopping on no fewer than 6 occasions to take a telephone call. I expected to be there maybe 15-20 minutes and then on my way with at least an apology for the inconvenience or maybe a discount on the rental. They did call and I left the beach to return to the Budget office to complete the rental paperwork. When I arrived at the time I indicated on the reservation, I was informed that there were no cars available so they shuttled me and 5 other people who were all in the same situation to our respective hotels with the promise that they would call about 3 hours later when cars were returned. This time I reserved with Budget and couldn't have had a worse experience. With taxes and fees, an economy car will cost you at least $280 for the week. I always reserve a rental car before I go and price is normally what dictates which of the 3 or 4 national chains that I use. I recently returned from a week long stay in Provo. ![]()
